Antique Japanee Kasane Isho Kimono Tansu 2 Section (22J-B117)
This is a 2 section antique Japanese stacking chest called Kiri Kasane Tansu from Middle Meiji period ( 1880's - 1890's). It is entirely made of Kiri (Paulownia) wood. The iron fittings were all hand made. The lcokplates in the center has Komon, family crest of Sakura, cherry blossom. Sakura is Japanese motit favored and often used at temple and shrine. The corner is decorated with Ogi, folding fan metals.
Each section can be used separately for versatility or stacked together to save space. Each section has carrying handles to easily move from place to place.
Originally used to store Japanese kimono, obi and accessories, its present day use works well for clothes storage in the bedroom or linen storage in the living room or dining room of a contemporary home.
